Whilst at Ella Baché I completed two issues of the Ella Baché Magazine, across 2013-2014. They had previously been creating perfect-bound, glossy magazines, and providing just one copy per salon. I suggested moving to a larger format, newspaper style, to improve distribution across the salon network and our clients alike. Due to the change in format we were able to produce 10 x more copies for the same or less budget. The new format and design were widely praised by the salon network, who began using it as a selling tool and for light reading in their waiting rooms, which they had not been able to do previously. Particular salons found it so useful with clients that they sought to buy additional copies in the hundreds. My role in the project: I worked closely with the copy-writer to ensure the layout and copy were working in harmony together, and I ended up copy-writing many of the headings. I designed and produced the entire document, from initial concept through to final art, press-checking and working with the pre-press operator to ensure the finished result was as premium as possible.
